Child Safety Matters
Child Safety Matters
The Monique Burr Foundation’s Child Safety Matters program is a comprehensive, evidence-based curriculum for elementary school students in grades K-5. Lessons are based on active learning and include interactive PowerPoint slides, teacher scripts, and take-home worksheets for students and their parents/guardians.
Topics that will be discussed:
- 5 Safety Rules
- Bullying/Cyberbullying
- Safe vs. Unsafe Strangers
- Digital Safety/Citizenship
- Abuse (sexual, physical, & emotional)
Lesson Duration:
The curriculum includes two lessons for each grade level. Below are estimated times for each individual lesson:
- Kindergarten: 35 minutes
- 1st Grade: 40 minutes
- 2nd Grade: 45 minutes
- 3rd Grade: 50 minutes
- 4th-5th Grade: 55 minutes
*Upon request, lessons can be divided into 4 shorter lessons ranging from 20-30 minutes.

- Easy to follow facilitator scripts for each lesson.
