What We Do

The Cortland County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a safe, child friendly, comfortable setting where Law Enforcement and/or Child Protective Services come investigate allegations of child (ages 17 years old and under) physical and sexual abuse.

The investigation process follows a Multi-Disciplinary Team  approach.  This team is made up of: District Attorney’s Office, CAC Advocacy, Law Enforcement (City PD, Homer PD, NYSP, Sheriff’s Office), Child Protective Services, Mental Health (FCS, CCMH), Medical (Guthrie Cortland Medical Center), and Probation.

You will be assigned to an Advocate, who can provide referrals to any needed services for you and your child(ren) and provide support throughout the entire process (investigation to prosecution).
